Now the master group for SV Guntamatic Ried is within reach. After the 3-2 win over WSG Tirol and especially after SK Rapid’s 2-2 win against Sturm Graz yesterday, you now have everything in your own hands.
The calculation looks like this: With a win against Klagenfurt you are already (almost) certain. Since the Klagenfurt team will meet Siebten Rapid in the last round, (at least) one of the two teams would definitely stay behind Ried after this game. LASK could still catch up with a Ried defeat at the end against Sturm. For that, Linzer would have to get six points against Salzburg and WAC.
In the Innviertel, before the remaining games against Klagenfurt and Sturm, you don’t even get involved in such arithmetic games. “We have taken a very important step,” said Ried coach Robert Ibertsberger after his first league win with the Innviertel team. “There’s no better starting position,” said striker Robin Ungerath confidently after his competitive debut for the Vikings. Midfield veteran Stefan Nutz put the brakes on the euphoria: “We can’t stress ourselves, we have to carry on as before. We’re still working towards a final against Sturm Graz.” Ibertsberger also believes in a final. “It will only be decided after the last game against Sturm.”
Dream debut for Nene
The starting position of Rieder almost wasn’t that good. Thanks to a dream debut from Salzburg’s loanee Dorgeles Nene, the home side were already 2-0 up after nine minutes (4th, 9th) and Ante Bajic made it 3-0 just before the half-time whistle (43rd). In the end, goals from Justin Forst (90th) and Giacomo Vrioni (92nd) almost gave away the victory. “That must not happen to us,” said goalscorer Bajic.
In the end, the sixth home win of the season – Ried has now been unbeaten in 16 competitive games in the home Josko Arena – but then joy prevailed. Also with the 19-year-old Malian Nene about his first goal in a competitive game. “I’m very happy, I’m playing in a good team,” were the first words of the French-speaking African in German.
Teammate Nutz also gave a lot of praise: “He’s a great guy. We can be happy that he’s with us for six months.” For Ibertsberger, that was just the beginning of the Nene show: “He can be even better if he knows our routes even better.” Maybe already on Sunday at the “Finale” in Klagenfurt.
