Rad-hero Lipowitz: Long Party Night and a Paris stroll
Third place at the Tour de France: Germany’s bike star Florian Lipowitz is celebrated extensively in Paris. The Federal Chancellor finds this “sensational”.
Countless hugs, selfies and autographs-the improvised party at the Red Bull team bus within sight of the Arc de Triomphe once again demanded all strength. After more than three weeks of strain on the streets of France, Germany’s new bike star fulfilled every wish with a smile to his friends and fans. The party including pizza, beer and a DJ in a side street of the magnificent Champs-Élysées was the start of a long night in Paris for the third of the Tour de France.
Before the party marathon in the city of love with a big festival on a ship in which his continued, the 24-year-old Swabian also treated himself to a quiet moment. He strolled hand in hand with his girlfriend Antonia and some family members and friends in the direction of triumphal arches.
“I certainly need a day or two to understand what happened in the past three weeks,” said Lipowitz. “It was always my dream. I never thought that it would become a reality. It is very special that I went on the podium on my first tour.”
Chancellor writes about “German sensational success”
The Chancellor’s quick congratulations also showed how high this performance can be assessed: “A German sensation success at the Tour de France: Congratulations, Florian Lipowitz, on a great third place!”
Lipowitz has finally arrived in the top of the world after his coup in the Grande Nation. Only the two exceptional drivers, the now four-time tour champion Tadej Pogacar and its permanent rival Jonas Vingegaard, were faster after 21 stages than the former biathlete and cycling queruser from Laichingen. “Pogi and Jonas are still at a different level,” the debutant admitted.
Red Bull team boss dreams of tour victory
How long the tour dominator from Slovenia continues to feel an apparently insatiable appetite for title is not foreseeable. “The Olympic Games in Los Angeles are one of my goals that take place in three years. After that, I may think about resigning, we will see,” said the 26 -year -old Pogacar of the French sports newspaper “L’Equipe”.
So Lipowitz will probably measure himself again with the two stars on the tour next year. Incidentally, the Grand Départ takes place outside of France in 2026. At the start, three stages around the Catalan metropolis of Barcelona are extended.
Lipowitz ‘Discusser Ralph Denk would only like to win the tour with his protégé. “That would be a dream. And you can dream.” The third place on the Tour of France is “a milestone” for the Red Bull team boss. “We won the Giro, the Vuelta and World Championships, but we have never been on the podium here,” said Denk, who describes the development of the young Swabian as a “heart project”.
“It is the cherry on the cake that you can achieve this with a driver who has become a professional driver with you.” These are “emotionally different victories” than that of ex-world champion Peter Sagan, for whom you “paid a lot of money”.
A croissant and a café au lait
Lipowitz himself “wants to enjoy the moment” and not think too much about the future. “I’m already looking forward to a break,” he said. He wanted to spend the Monday with his girlfriend in Paris and stroll through the city – in a French way: with a croissant and a café au lait.
