Swimming world champion Märtens
Märtens further motivated: Olympics 2028 as a big goal
Olympic champion, world recordler, world champion: Lukas Märtens has achieved everything important over 400 meters freestyle. One day after World Cup gold, he talks about other goals in Singapore.
Lukas Märtens do not run out of the swimming destinations even after his World Cup title over 400 meters freestyle. “Nah, quite the opposite. I am only 23. That’s why I still have a few years before me. La is of course the big goal,” said Märtens, with a view to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 in a video spread by the German Swimming Association.
Measuring on the world stage is always fun, said Märtens. On his best route he is now Olympic champion, world record holder and world champion. In 2022 he also became European champion. There could be more “more medals,” said Märtens with gold around his neck.
Already at this World Cup. On Tuesday, Märtens swims over 800 meters freestyle. “Today I have a day to relax and then it goes over the 800,” he said. “Over 800 is the competition, I think, as hard than on any other route.”
