Gose sixth at the World Cup show – Köhler “Right Railway of Feelings”

Isabel Gose has no chance in a big swimming show in the race for the podium. Angelina Köhler lacks bronze in her last single race of this World Cup.

In a spectacular World Cup race, Isabel Gose has not been able to intervene in the fight for the medals. The 23-year-old took sixth place at the big show of the swimming stars Katie Ledecky, Lani Pallister and Summer Mcintosh over 800 meters freestyle. The three competitors swam ahead from the start and in their own league.

In the end, the American Ledecky won in 8: 05.62 minutes just ahead of Australian Pallister and bronze winner Mcintosh from Canada. Gose struck after 8: 18.23 minutes.

“I already knew that they would be on the road quickly. It was only the question of who wins the thing,” said Gose. “It was actually clear from the start that they are significantly faster.” About her own World Cup, in which she won gold with the open water relay, but no medal in the pool, she said: “I think it was a very educational World Cup. But I am now also happy when my summer break is coming up again, you can sort yourself again and then start fresh in the new season.”

Köhler is missing seven hundredths of a second for bronze

Previously, Angelina Köhler only missed a surprising medal. The 24-year-old took fourth place in the final over 50 meters of butterfly. With her German record time of 25.50 seconds, Köhler was missing seven hundredths of a second for bronze.

“That is the tiresome 50s. That’s just the way. Yesterday I was lucky, today I swam super,” said Köhler with a view of the narrow result on the sprint route. The day before, the Berliner had secured the last final place with only one hundredth of a second ahead of nine.

Köhler: “A conciliatory conclusion”

“I’m super satisfied. I’m there at the front, I’m fine,” she said now. “This is a conciliatory conclusion to me.” Köhler looked back on an eventful week. After she had become sixth over 100 meters of butterfly as the defending champion, tears had flowed.

However, Köhler recovered. “The week was a roller coaster of feelings. It was incredibly difficult. I had to work an incredibly amount on myself,” she said. “It was mentally a Mount Everest promotion that I mastered there.”

Back swimmer Lise Seidel swam the biggest race of her career in Singapore. The 18-year-old, who is at a World Cup for the first time, took eighth place in the final over 200 meters. The move into the finals had already been a surprise. The German 4×100 meter freestyle Mixed relay with Josha Salchow, Rafael Miroslaw, Nina Holt and Nina Jazy swam to eighth.
