These women are among the toughest solo sailors. They circled the world alone, already at 14, another cracked records with only two years of sailing experience.

“If you are a woman, it is still difficult to be recorded in top teams. It was easier to sail alone,” said French sailor Isabelle Autissier once when asked why she was taking part in one -hand sailing competitions.



The 66-year-old sailed around the world alone in a race in 1990. In doing so, she stands in a whole series of women who have competed against almost exclusively male competition since the late 1960s or realize the circumnavigation as a personal challenge.
