Garmisch-Patenskirchen mourns the loss of a daughter of the city, Andreas Dahlmeier for his child. The father of the fatally crashed Laura Dahlmeier now shows his pain publicly.
The fate of Laura Dahlmeier continues to move all over Germany-and especially Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the home town of the former world-class biathlete. The sympathy for the death of the 31-year-old there is huge.
Among other things, the mayor wants to be renamed the spa park in Laura-Dahlmeier-Park, as she told the “Munich Merkur”-in agreement with the survivors. Already now there is a temporary memorial in the park, with wooden stele, lantern, a stone from the home mountains – and a photo of the fatally crashed. In addition, the municipal administration wants to put together a condolence book from the funeral letters. And the parish church of St. Martin also creates space to commemorate, here mourners can ignite candles for them.

All of this will hardly be able to alleviate the pain of the family of Laura Dahlmeier. So far, she had only spoken out about the management. “She has exemplified us that it is worthwhile to stand up for your own dreams and goals and always stay true to yourself,” it said in a message – now her parents show a small public gesture of grief.

Father Andres Dahlmeier operates a fourth generation in the Alpine town. In the shop window of the business, the family is now reminiscent of their daughter. Embedded by white roses and candles, a framed photo of Laura Dahlmeier stands on a carpenter – it shows the athlete in the mountains, both fists stretched out. In addition, on a white loop the words “forever Laura”.
It is questionable whether family and friends can say goodbye to a coffin of Laura Dahlmeier, because the body of her remains at Laila Peak in Pakistan until further notice. There the Olympic champion had a fatal accident on a mountain tour last week. She had that in the event of an accident, nobody should endanger herself to recover the body.
