Ski coup: Vonn is preparing for Svindal for Olympics

Prominent reinforcement for Lindsey Vonn: Ex-Skistar Svindal is also supposed to make the American fit for the winter games in February. The Norwegian knows how to get Olympic gold.

Ski star Lindsey Vonn relies on prominent support in preparation for the Olympic season. The American has included the Norwegian ex-ski racing driver Aksel Lund Svindal in her coaching team. She “is really looking forward to the upcoming journey,” wrote the 40-year-old on Instagram. For a long time, she has been maintaining a “great friendship with great respect for each other,” said Vonn.

The new World Cup season begins on October 25th and 26th in Sölden, Austria. The highlight of the winter are the Olympic Games from February 6th to 22nd in Italy. Then Vonn in Cortina d’Ampezzo wants to ride again for medals at the end of her career.

Comeback season with ups and downs

In 2010, the long-time alpine dominator won Olympic gold in the departure. Svindal also won gold in the Super-G in 2010 and eight years later the Olympic title in the departure. In 2019 he ended his career – just like Vonn, who returned last winter.

In her comeback season, Vonn experienced ups and downs. The World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm was disappointing for her. In the World Cup, however, she drove three top ten results, including second place at the Super-G in Sun Valley. The return of the US star after almost six years of the World Cup break caused a sensation. The two-time world champion and 82-time World Cup winner, also battered by serious injuries in her career, is now driving a partial denture in his knee.
