Bavaria’s “Bock” on Leipzig and Eberl’s gallows humor
The 63rd Bundesliga season will kick off in Munich. The master has never lost the official opening game. Does that stay like this against Leipzig? Another Bayern question is, of course, greater.
Finally Bundesliga – after a 97 -day summer break, Vincent Kompany and Max Eberl “Bock” feel on a rousing season opening game against RB Leipzig. But at the same time, with a view to the maximum title destinations of FC Bayern, the sporty duo is concerned with the fear that the squad on the offensive is luxurious, but also “relatively thin”, as sports director Eberl said: “Everyone can see that.” Nevertheless, the Munich Ober-Bosse deny him the shopping money.
And so before the kick-off of the 63rd Bundesliga season on Friday (8:30 p.m./Sat.1. And Sky) in the Allianz Arena there was an exciting press conference. In the Eberl the transfer decree of the club patron and member of the supervisory board Uli Hoeneß – borrowing instead of buying – met with smug tips.
Even the coach Kompany, which was always on the outside, took part in it when he noticed when asked about creative offensive solutions: “So, Manuel Neuer will not play in the storm.” But of course on in the goal.
Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and 70 million euro shopping Luis Diaz-this is the Munich offensive quartet without the long-injured Jamal Musiala. One that undoubtedly justifies the highest ambitions.
Eberl’s Hoeneß counter: Buying is easier than borrowing
But Eberl and Kompany recognize the risk in the densely clocked schedule. In addition, there is time pressure because the transfer window ends in two weeks. The scope has become narrow. Because “buying is much easier than ‘only’ borrowing”, as Eberl stated. He has to find “creative solutions”. He described the task almost lyrically: “What is the pigeon on the roof?”
The sports director is in the dilemma – and with it the trainer who has to fill the gaps with promising talents (Tom Bischof, Lennart Karl) and creative lineups. “It is as it is,” said Kompany: “There are a few more weeks. And we have a lot of people who deal with it.”
Company: attack instead of sacrifice position
The Belgian also said a typical company sentence: “I don’t like the victim position, I hate it. No matter what to expect, we will attack.” Eberl in turn blends into the role forced.
“We have the prerequisites that the club has decided to save money. We sold Kingsley Coman – in addition what was not the plan. We have not been able to sign Nick Woltemade. And now is the task of making a loan. We have to be creative now.”
The sports director no longer hides its frustration. Rather, he said in the keyword Woltemade, which VfB Stuttgart did not want to give up for 60 million euros. “No idea what happens until September 1st. Maybe Stuttgart lends him to us again – because we can borrow.”
But Eberl did not hide the fact that a high-quality lending business on the last minute was hardly realistic: “If Paris Saint-Germain would ask us if we would borrow Michael Olise.” Then in Munich you would also react with an understandingless shaking of the head.
Experts, fans and the Bayern competitors can be excited to see how the curious Munich transfer summer ends with the Florian-Wirtz announcement and the failed Woltemade deal. How the opening game of Bavaria against Leipzig goes out, however, this question seems easy to answer.
What Goretzka and new projects
Of course, everything speaks for the master, who also goes into the home game with the tailwind of the Supercup win in Stuttgart (2: 1). “It was not an ideal preparation,” Kompany emphasized with a view to the club World Cup and the short time afterwards. “But we are mentally there. The hunger is here!”
The greed for victories and titles should drive new, Kane and Co. “If you play at FC Bayern, you always go into the season with the maximum ambitions,” said Leon Goretzka. And after the victory in the Supercup, captain Neuer announced: “We also showed in the direction of the league and competition that we want to be there from the start and will be there.”
Leipzig’s restart with coach Werner
In addition, there is statistics that encourages Bavaria – and who could horrify Leipzig. For the 24th time there is the official opening game with the German champion – and it has never lost (18 wins, five draws). “Then it is time,” Leipzig’s new captain David Raum reacted combative in the “Kicker” interview.
After the crash, the Saxons want to re -attack the coach Ole Werner from Bremen in the previous season. “Last season it didn’t fit at Leipzig, but they remain an offensive, but they remain a strong team, even if Benjamin Šeško is gone,” Kompany warned. But the master coach also confidently said before the first of 34 match days: “It is the Allianz Arena. We are at home. And we feel like it!”
