Stotters: Bavaria screams past embarrassment

Bayern Munich has to tremble long before moving into the second cup round. Harry Kane redeems the Munich team in added time.

After an astonishingly faulty appearance, FC Bayern only difficult to avert a cup flamage. The German record champion won 3-2 (1-0) at the third division club SV Wehen and thus avoided the first round that the Munich had lasted at TSV Vestenbergsgreuth 31 years ago.

In front of 12,500 fans, Harry Kane scored the winning goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Kane had also brought Bavaria into the lead by penalty (16th), and Michael Olise (51st) scored for the 20-time cup winner, whose last triumph had been five years ago. This is also why the hunger for cup in the industry leader is particularly large. Fatih Kaya (64th/70th) scored twice for the brave fighting Hesse.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany threw the rotary machine after the convincing 6-0 win against RB Leipzig at the Bundesliga start and changed his starting eleven to six positions. In addition to the blocked goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who was represented by Jonas Urbig, Dayot Upamecano, Josip Stanisic, Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry also remained outside at the beginning.

Ten secrets from Harry Kane

Bavaria immediately in the picture

Despite the changes, it only took ten seconds to the first Bayern Grosschank. Kane played Luis Diaz free, but the attacker, who came from Liverpool for 75 million euros, failed due to the shiny reacting SVWW goalkeeper Florian Stritzel.

After the first moment of terror, the outsider quickly sorted and initially allowed no further dangerous actions by the record champion. The Munich controlled the action, but found hardly any gaps in the compact defense of the hosts.

Only a penalty after an unnecessary foul by Ryan Johansson to Sacha Boey – the Wiesbadener tore his opponent around the guests at a high flank in the penalty area – helped the guests to take the lead. Kane turned ice cold. As a result, the favorite spoiled its workload easily without spending itself.

Munich sinned in the end

However, the second goal was long in coming. First, two SVWW players clarified after a shot by Luis Diaz shortly before the goal line, then Stritel saved against Raphael Guerreiro. The chance user almost took his day when Nikola’s agrafiotis came to the shot after a counterattack, but the Bayern goal was clearly missed. In return, Kane had the 2-0 on his foot, but again Stritzel remained the winner.

After the change, the guests gave a gait and promptly came to success through Olise. Two more Bayern goals were not recognized due to offside, and Luis Diaz continued to sin at the end. At first he failed freely on Stritel, then the Colombian fled the ball from a promising position over the goal.

Bavaria defensive surprises contractions

In terms of efficiency, the host was carved out of another wood that evening. On one of the rare offensive excursions, Niklas May simply flanked in front of the goal, where Kaya international Jonathan Tah escaped and the ball went into the net by direct acceptance.

And it came even better for the underdog. Just five minutes later, Kaya escaped the Bayern defense again and kept his nerve alone in front of Urbig.

Crazy about Harry: Kane is the new superstar of the Bundesliga – he doesn’t want to be that

The joy of the home side about the unexpected double strike did not seem long-lasting, because a little later, referee Daniel Siebert decided again on a penalty after a penalty area on Kane. But this time the Englishman failed due to the outstanding Stritzel. It was Kane’s first penalty deformation in a competitive game in over three years. In added time, however, the striker was on the spot again.
