Because Bayern has to go bus
Kimmich: “Have to lift the night landing ban”
From Wiesbaden, the players of FC Bayern had to drive over 400 kilometers of bus to Munich. Joshua Kimmich therefore made a proposal for home airport.
Only now did the starring ensemble around Harry Kane, Luis Diaz and Co. compete in the first round of the DFB Cup against the third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden, because the Munich team previously played in the Supercup against Stuttgart (final score 2: 1) and the appointments otherwise overlapped.
The late start in the trophy almost gave up his pants: in the fourth minute of added time, Kane saved the record cup winner with his goal to 3: 2 before the extra time. Wiesbaden had previously compensated for a 0-2 deficit.
Kimmich against night landing ban
For Bayern, we went home directly after the cup evening. However, since a night landing ban on Munich Airport has been banned from 0 a.m. to 5 a.m., the team of coach Vincent Kompany had to cope with the route of around 428 kilometers by bus. You can only land in the Bavarian capital in exceptional cases and with previous approval.
Joshua Kimmich wants this regulation to be relaxed. “We have to pick up the night landing ban in Munich, that would not be bad,” he said with a smile after the final whistle in the Brita Arena in Wiesbaden on -Microphone.
Long bus ride is an exception for FC Bayern
According to a report by the “Bild” newspaper, the Bayern professionals previously traveled with two private jets from the Oberpfaffenhofen special airfield (30 kilometers south of Munich) to Frankfurt. Then a bus brought them to the team hotel from there, where the Munich team spent the last hours to the departure to the Wiesbadener Brita-Arena.
The long bus trip from Wiesbaden back to Munich is an absolute exception. According to this, Bayern have mostly traveled to the games with private machines since Corona pandemic. Only take the bus on shorter away trips-for example next Saturday for the Bundesliga game at FC Augsburg.
