Champions League final 2026 begins earlier
The Champions League winner should no longer be determined shortly before midnight. Therefore, the UEFA moves the impetus forward.
The final of the Champions League will kick off three hours earlier this season than before. Instead of 9 p.m., the two best club teams in Europe are now facing each other at 6 p.m. According to its own statements, the European umbrella organization UEFA wants to enable the spectators in the stadium and in front of the TV sets a “better fan experience”.
“The final of the UEFA Champions League is the highlight of the football season and the new kick-off time will make it even more accessible, inclusive and effective for everyone involved,” said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferer in a message.
The Champions League final has always been taking place on a Saturday for several years. The title holder in Budapest will be determined in 2026. For the games during the week, it remains mostly at the kick -off time at 9:00 p.m. The drawing of the group phase will take place this evening (6 p.m.).
