Struff is eliminated against Djokovic at US Open
Jan-Lennard Struff had imagined it differently. He wants to demand Novak Djokovic in his biggest match at the US Open so far, but remains no chance. The tournament was still a success for him.
Tennis professional Jan-Lennard Struff has clearly missed the hoped-for sensation against record grand slam winner Novak Djokovic at the US Open and was excreted in the round of 16. The qualified had to give up 3: 6, 3: 6, 2: 6 against the favorite from Serbia and continues to wait for his first quarter -finals at one of the four most important tournaments. After only 1:49 hours, Struff’s appearance in front of around 24,000 spectators ended at the Arthur Ashe stage.
Even the round of 16 for the 35-year-old Sauerlander was his greatest success at the New York Grand Slam tournament. After leaving, none of the initially six German tennis professionals in the individual competitions of women and men are there. The world ranking third Alexander Zverev surprisingly lost in the third round on Saturday.
For Djokovic, the record hunting continues
As in the previous rounds, Djokovic also had physical complaints against Struff and called the physiotherapist to the pitch after the first and second sentence won. He didn’t let it stop.
Thanks to the quarter-finals, Djokovic can continue to hope for his 25th Grand Slam title, with whom he would rise to the sole record holder in front of the Australian Margaret Court. The 38-year-old has to deal with the American Taylor Fritz in the fight for reaching the semi-finals.
