FC Barcelona are apparently interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper Sports. Accordingly, Barca coach Xavi should be convinced of the midfielder, who is currently on loan for Chelsea.
The paper goes on to say that the move to the Catalans could be offset against Antoine Griezmann. The 30-year-old Frenchman will probably move permanently from FC Barcelona to Atletico in the summer. Barca have been linked with Saul on several occasions in the past.
Saul is under contract with Atletico Madrid until 2026
The left foot is still under contract with Diego Simeone’s team until 2026, but the Blues have an option to buy next summer. Since the 27-year-old is only used irregularly in the current season with the Londoners, the Spaniard is likely to return to Atletico in the summer.
A transfer fee would therefore be due for the 19-time Spain international in the summer. The market value of Saul is currently estimated at 35 million euros.
