Holger Blask is to become the new Secretary General of the German Football Association and thus the successor to Heike Ullrich, who will in future act as Vice President of Women’s and Girls Football. Ullrich was proposed by the DFB Presidium for her new office. As the association continued, the previous incumbent Sabine Mammitzsch will no longer compete at the DFB Bundestag in November. The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported.



In the event of his re-election, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf, the newly elected Presidium Blask, the chairman of the management of the GmbH & Co.KG to propose as a new general secretary in personal union, said the DFB announcement.

Blask has been the managing director of marketing, sales, event & operations at the DFB since August 2020 and has also been acting as spokesman for the management of DFB GmbH & Co. KG since January 1, 2022. The 50-year-old worked for the German Football League (DFL) for 14 years as a member of the management for 14 years.


Ullrich with a lot of experience in women’s football

Heike Ullrich had taken over the office in May 2021 after the withdrawal of Friedrich Curtius and was officially the first general secretary in the history of the association on April 1, 2022. “In the past few years, as a general secretary, I have been able to contribute to consolidating the DFB after a difficult phase. I was happy to do this, but now I would like to return to a central topic in new responsibility for me. For me, women’s and girls’ football was and is a matter close to the heart,” said the 55-year-old.

In the profession, Ullrich, who has been working at the DFB since 1996, has a lot of experience. Among other things, she worked as a team manager for the women’s football team, was a member of the organizational committee of the 2001 Women’s European Championship and Women’s World Cup in Germany. From 2005 to 2016 she also belonged to the U20 Women Commission of the World Association FIFA. At the DFB, she took over the management women and girls’ football in 2018, 2018 the management association, clubs and leagues. The DFB is currently applying for the 2029 women of 2029.
