Trump as a guest: tightened controls at US Open
US President Donald Trump wants to visit the US Open men’s final. As a result, the Secret Service carries out the entrance controls.
The announced visit by US President Donald Trump has led to tightened security measures at the US Open. A contingent of the Secret Service was used around the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Visitors and media representatives were checked significantly more on the last day of the Grand Slam tournament in New York.
In contrast to the previous tournament days, there was another check in front of Arthur Ashe Stadium in addition to the control at the entrance to the complex, in which almost 24,000 spectators are expected for the final between the Italian Jannik Sinner and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. Media representatives were also checked by security officers, bags were examined intensively and much more precisely than before.
Trump has visited various high-class sporting events since his election victory in November last year, including the final of the World Cup in football near New York.
