Pierre Gasly’s future inside Alpine in Formula 1
Alpine extended Pierre Gasly’s contract until 2028a decision that Provost described as “a very positive sign.” The French pilot became a pillar of the project, while the team prepares for the new regulatory era. Gasly is the only pilot who has added points for Alpine in 2025, with a total of 20 units that place the team in the last place of the Construction Championship.
The team stopped the development of the current car (A525) to focus on the 2026 regulation. Steve Nielsen, new director of operations, and Flavio Briatore, in their role as an advisor, lead this transition. Provost avoided referring to Franco Colapinto’s situation and Jack Doohan, who alternated in the second car without achieving points.
What François Provost about Alpine said in Monza’s GP
Provost declared in Monza that his visit was looking for “Reaffirm that we will continue in Formula 1 for a long time”. The CEO stressed that the renewal of Gasly and the arrival of Nielsen mark the beginning of a stage of stability and performance. “We enter a new era, which will be performance, but above all stability,” he said.
The manager recognized the bad results of Alpine in 2025, but trusted that the association with Mercedes and institutional continuity will allow a change of course. “These are very clear steps”he said, although the team must demonstrate on track that this new approach translates into concrete improvements. The French team occupies the last place in the championship, with only 20 points obtained by Gasly.
