Schalke 04 breaks with Gazprom and removes the brand from its shirt

“In view of the events, development and deterioration of the last few days, FC Schalke 04 decided to remove the word ‘Gazprom’ from their shirts”The club said in a statement on Thursday. The shirts will bear only the name Schalke 04 from the next game on Saturday in Karlsruhe.

Following Moscow’s recognition of the independence of self-proclaimed pro-Russian “republics” in eastern Ukraine, Germany on Tuesday suspended the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, which was not yet in service.
