Peat festival in the premier class
Eight goals in one half: BVB and Juve separate 4: 4 after furious game
Eight goals at the start of the Champions League, four within eleven minutes alone: Borussia Dortmund and Juventus Turin provide a big show – with a crazy comeback.
Borussia Dortmund separated 4: 4 from Juventus Turin in a completely crazy game at the start of the Champions League season. The team of coach Niko Kovač gave a 4-2 lead in added time. It had been 0-0 at halftime.
BVB remains unbeaten this season, but the result is disappointing in view of the course of the game. In front of 41,497 spectators in the atmospheric Juventus Stadium, Karim Adeyemi (52nd minute), Felix Nmecha (65th), Yan Couto (74th) and Karm Bensebaini (86./ Träfmeter) scored the goals for BVB. Kenan Yildiz (63.), Dusan Vlahović (68./90.+4) and Lloyd Kelly (90.+6) each equalized for Turin. Dortmund continues to wait for the first victory against the traditional club since the glorious 3-1 in the final in the premier class in 1997.
Kobel challenged early
“The competition is so big in this competition, it is important that we start well,” said Kovač before the game at Amazon Prime Video. However, Juve had the first chance. Khéphren Thuram’s spacer shot was deflected by Felix Nmecha and BVB keeper Gregor Kobel had to show his entire class to scratch the ball from the corner (4th).
In the evening, warm temperatures still developed a torn game. The Dortmunders initially worked out significantly more possession, but made numerous playback errors in the game forward. At the end the BVB didn’t come at all. It was characteristic of an attempt by Adeyemi that flew towards the corner flag rather than towards the gate.
Second half no comparison to the first
Maybe because Borussia did not really demand the Juve defense, the hosts went on the offensive. The team of coach Igor Tudor showed partly handsome ball relays on the way forward and took out a few corners. However, Kobel was no longer really challenged. A shot from the former Leipzig Loïs Openda did not pose problems for the Swiss.
Openda also belonged to the first scene of the second round. A remarkable fall back in the Dortmund penalty area brought the Belgian applause. However, a gate would not have counted because of an offside position.
Dortmund suddenly dangerous
Shortly afterwards the BVB struck. Guirassy played for Adeyemi, the 23-year-old presented the ball and then shot precisely from shortly before the penalty area. Euphorically, he could celebrate the fan curve in front of the Dortmund. Previously, Maximilian Beier had failed on the post from a very pointed angle.
Dortmund was now much better in the game. The BVB suddenly acted determined and by train to the goal. Guirassy had the 2-0 on his foot, but failed from a short distance from Juve goalkeeper Michele di Gregorio.
Because Juve attacked courageously, a big football show developed. First Yildiz met with a dream goal to equalize, but in return, NMECHA had the BVB supporters cheer again.
But that was far from it. Juve only needed three minutes for the answer. Substitute Vlahović scored 2-2. However, BVB was not satisfied with the point. Couto used a defensive error and scored 3-2 with a shot in the short corner. Bensebaini made a preliminary decision with a penalty – before Vlahović only scored the connecting goal in added time and then also prepared Lloyd Kelly’s compensation.
