ÖSV women’s team won the home World Cup in Hinzenbach

The team world champions Sara Marita Kramer and Chiara Kreuzer as well as Lisa Eder and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger clearly prevailed 35.1 points ahead of Russia and 35.6 ahead of Slovenia. Slovenia’s Spela Rogelj was disqualified in the first round, which cost her team around 90 points.

Kramer had missed the Olympic Games because of a positive corona test, and after a three-week break she made a comeback in Upper Austria. The World Cup leader led the ÖSV team to victory with 87.5 and 87 meters, but she wasn’t really satisfied with her jumps. The 20-year-old said in an ORF interview that these were designed for a larger hill.

“Perfect start back” for Kramer

“It’s a perfect start back with the team. That puts a smile on my face, that’s the most important thing now,” said Kramer. The hill in Hinzenbach is always difficult for her, so she shouldn’t step on the gas so much, but has to be more patient, explained the long-distance hunter.

Kramer and Kreuzer (formerly Hölzl) have been part of all four previous ÖSV team victories. The injured team world champions Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and Sophie Sorschag were absent at home.

For Seifriedsberger, it was the comeback with the team in front of empty ranks after a serious knee injury and a COVID illness that prevented participation in the Olympics. “Power and liveliness are still missing, but after the last few weeks I’m satisfied with these jumps,” said the local hero.

In the mixed team competition at the Winter Games in Beijing, the victorious Slovenians were spared disqualifications – there were a total of five in the competition – but team vice world champion Rogelj was caught in Hinzenbach. Her non-compliant suit prevented a possible win.

For Germany, without the Olympic silver medalists Katharina Althaus and Juliane Seyfarth (both with a positive corona test), only fifth place remained.
