Tournament in three countries
This is how the mascots of the 2026 World Cup look
FIFA has presented the official mascot for the World Cup next year. For the first time, three countries organize the tournament – each gets their own figure.
In the summer of 2026, the World Cup takes place for the first time in three countries. The USA, Canada and Mexico organize the tournament together. Accordingly, there are three mascots.
FIFA officially presented the animal lucky charms: it is a moose, a Jaguar and a white -headed eagle called Maple, Zayu and Clutch. The three animals each embody the peculiarities of the country for which they stand. As a goalkeeper, midfielder and striker, they should also symbolize the football players who compete at the World Cup. In addition, a legend was tailored to each of the mascot, which is supposed to reflect the values of the tournament.

Football World Cup: Mascot has been around since 1966
“Maple, Zayu and Clutch are full of joy, energy and a sense of belonging, just like the World Cup itself,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the presentation via social media. “The three mascots play a central role in the incredible, entertaining atmosphere that we create for this groundbreaking tournament. They will conquer their hearts and ensure cheering in North America and all over the world. I can already imagine them on the children’s t-shirts and how they clap football legends.”
A soccer World Cup is held for the first time in three countries, but there were already three mascots at a World Cup: the computer-generated figures ATO, KAZ and NIK at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Since 1966, FIFA has selected an official mascot for each tournament.
However, these are not always well received by the spectators. Goleo, the mascot for the “summer fairy tale” 2026 in Germany, received, for example, little flattering reviews. How Maple, Zayu and Clutch are recorded by the fans remains to be seen. The World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico will take place from June 11th to July 19th. For the first time, 48 teams compete.
