Europe’s top golfer are expanding leadership at the Ryder Cup
On the second day of the Ryder Cup, too, Europe’s top golfer show their class in the morning parties and take a step towards defending the title. So far, the US stars have not been able to do much.
Defending champion Europe continues to dominate the 45th Ryder Cup at the gates of New York. The team led by Northern Ireland’s golfstar Rory McIlroy expanded the lead in the prestigious continental comparison against the US selection in farmingdale to 8.5: 3.5 points.
The top European players won three of the four morning duels on the second day on the Black Course in Bethpage State Park on Long Island at the biggest team competition in golf. In the afternoon (local time), four team duels are once again on the program.
Mcilroy and Tommy Fleetwood (England), Jon Rahm (Spain) and Tyrrell Hatton (England) as well as Robert Macintyre (Scotland) and Viktor Hovland (Norway) and was able to win their matches against the Americans. Only Bryson Decimbeau and Cameron Young took a point for the hosts.
Team Europe last won in the USA in 2012
The European selection of captain Luke Donald continued its run from the previous day. On the opening day, the team had won a 5.5:5 lead under the eyes of US President and hobby golfer Donald Trump. Two years ago, the Europeans in Rome clearly defeated the Americans with 16.5: 11.5 points. There was a victory in the USA for McIlroy and Co. last in 2012.
