Rummenigge to Woltemade poker: VfB has “found idiots”
FC Bayern would have loved to get Nick Woltemade. But he switched to England. Munich’s ex-board boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge now found clear words for its transfer fee.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has spoken internally against a multi-million transfer from Nick Woltemade at FC Bayern. This was told by the 70-year-old ex-CEO on Bavarian Radio on Sunday evening. “I said: We come in in order of magnitude, I no longer find them acceptable. We shouldn’t meet all demands.”
With these words, Rummenigge went to Uli Hoeneß, Herbert Hainer, Max Eberl and Jan-Christian Dreesen, as he reported in “Blickpunkt Sport”. Afterwards Woltemade went to England for “even more money”.
“If we had not made secured in Munich”
“I can only congratulate them in Stuttgart that they have now found one – I now say in quotation marks – idiots who paid so much money – because we would not have made it back to Munich,” said Rummenigge about the transfer of the 23 -year -old German striker to Newcastle United. A transfer fee of around 90 million euros is rumored.
Rummenigge warned of ever higher sums in professional football. He campaigned for the World Association FIFA and the European Football Union UEFA to organize a common dialogue.
“You are responsible for all the transfer topics. We cannot keep going every year, more and more, and faster.
Wirtz also canceled FC Bayern
In addition to Woltemade, the Munich people didn’t get Florian Wirtz either. “We actually feel a bit sorry for Florian because he is a great player and I think he would have suited us perfectly too,” added Rummenigge. Instead, the national player switched from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool FC and has so far experienced a difficult start at the English champions.
