Each Grand Prix is a challenge for Franco Colapinto and his Alpine. This weekend in austinthe Argentine will start from 15th place after a classification that did not leave him with a good feeling, maintaining his discomfort with the car.

During qualifying, Colapinto starred in an intense exchange over the radio with his track engineer, Stuart Barlowafter being asked to abort a lap to favor his partner Pierre Gasly.

“Can I do another lap or not? I’m full!” Colapinto reacted, visibly frustrated. Barlow calmly responded, “We have no fuel, so let Pierre pass.” Still, the driver insisted: “Let me finish a lap! What? Can I keep accelerating or not?” To contain the tension, Barlow remained calm and suggested they pit if they weren’t learning anything.

After the session, Colapinto expressed his annoyance with the performance of the Alpinewhile Barlow congratulated him for improving in his second round: “It was a good improvement with that tire.” However, the driver remained critical: “High speed is very complicated. In a curve I had an unevenness and the car became very destabilized.”
