The Uruguayan league is suspended due to threats to the referees

“Given the measure of not appearing to arbitrate adopted by AUDAF, it is reported that all categories and disciplines of the AUF are suspended until further notice”indicated this Sunday the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) in a statement.

The arbitration group had announced on Saturday night the decision to stop its activities “until we understand that the guarantees are given” to get your job done.

On Saturday, after the Peñarol-Danubio match in which the Aurinegros won thanks to a penalty in stoppage time, the arbitration quartet was threatened by a person close to the Danubio bar.

Earlier in the same day, Martin Soppiwho was designated as the first assistant in the game that Nacional and Montevideo City Torque were to play this Sunday, was threatened by tricolor fans.

Both cases were reported to the police.

The Uruguayan Association of Football Referees (AUDAF) indicated in a statement his decision to “not tolerate under any circumstances another fact of similar characteristics”.

  • Albion-Wanderers
  • National-City Torque

  • Cerrito-Rentists.
