0:1 – Wiesinger messed up the LASK dress rehearsal

In the 0:1 in Wolfsberg, the athletes dominated, fired 21 times at the goal of the third party – and were defeated because the Carinthians used the first shot. The dress rehearsal before the round of 16 first leg in the Europa Conference League on Thursday away against Slavia Prague (6.45 p.m.) was messed up.

“The season is reflected,” Wiesinger said dejectedly. “We have chances of two or three goals and then someone makes a mistake, this time me.” On the cross from Michael Novak, the failed acceptance with the chest became the template for Thorsten Röcher – 0: 1 (52nd).

It was the first regular degree from Wolfsberger. The LASK had completely dominated the third before. Hyun-seok Hong (4th, 11th), Marvin Potzmann (5th), Andreas Gruber (18th), Alexander Schmidt (29th, 34th) did not bring the superiority of their chances to the scoreboard, after 0 :1 Gruber, Potzmann and Florian Flecker missed the goal alone (62′, 72′, 78′), the long-range shot by Filip Twardzik was fished out by goalkeeper Alexander Kofler (91′).

“Rightly where we are”

WAC scored a total of four times: two offside goals were disallowed, and there was cheering after the first shot (42nd) – but because Röcher stepped on Wiesinger’s foot in the formation, referee Harald Lechner conceded the goal after studying the video. At 0: 1, the VAR could no longer help LASK.

“It happens again and again,” Wiesinger said angrily. “If we make mistakes like that, we’re right where we are.” LASK finishes the basic round in eighth place and goes into the ten games of the qualifying group two points behind SV Guntamatic Ried.

Goals are needed against Slavia

Before LASK kicks them off on Sunday, the athletes will be guests at Slavia Prague on Thursday. With regard to the first duel with the Czechs, coach Andreas Wieland had prepared in Wolfsberg: The ailing Branko Jovicic was not in the squad, James Holland and the recovered Marko Raguz were on the bench. The Black and Whites followed up on the strong performance against Salzburg – but as is so often the case, even the best chances were wasted. Wiesinger: “Is it luck, coincidence? I don’t know. Nobody does it on purpose.” (like)
