Relegation hit in the 2nd football league: The penultimate forward Steyr is a guest at bottom FC Juniors OÖ today. While it is already a game of destiny for the LASK talent team, coach Daniel Madlener’s team could not only extend the lead over their local rivals with a complete success – ideally, Steyr would climb up to twelfth place after this round.
The Red and Whites are also defending a series: Steyr has been undefeated for seven league games. Only the second FAC has a longer clean record with eight games. The strong forward form is also due to coach Madlener, whose game idea is getting better and better. “He wants the best for every player and works very hard with us. The coach has played a major role in our current success,” says Steyr goalie Thomas Turner. The 57-year-old from Vorarlberg has also pushed the club’s development away from the match day: Whereas in the past Steyr trained mainly in the evenings, like at an amateur club, three to four units are now also held in the mornings.
The work on the training ground pays off – today the next step to staying up should follow. “We won’t have anything to do with relegation,” Turner, who played his first professional games for today’s opponent, is certain. If they stayed in the league, there would be nothing against extending Madlener’s contract. There is a bilateral option anyway.
Seidl double pack at Blau-Weiss
Before today’s away duel at Rapid II, FC Blau-Weiss Linz announced their first summer transfer: With Simon Seidl (Kuchl), Linz signed the brother of BW offensive player Matthias Seidl (21), who is two years younger.
As reported, there should also be a signature for Captain Michael Brandner in the coming days. According to OÖN information, the players and the club have long since agreed verbally.
