UEFA opens a file on the owner of PSG for threatening the referee in Madrid

The file points to the conduct of the president of PSG, the Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifiand the sports director, the Brazilian Leonard, after the end of the match in which Real Madrid reversed the 1-0 loss of the first leg in France.

UEFA is based on article 11 of its disciplinary regulations, which speaks of “general principles of conduct”, and article 15, which sanctions “incorrect behavior of players and managers”.

The two provisions focus in particular on failure to respect “instructions given by the referee” or more generally “unsportsmanlike behavior”, and provide for sanctions that may include disqualification and fines.

The Spanish press reported that Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo They tried to protest the referees after Real Madrid’s triumph, considering that Frenchman Karim Benzema fouled Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma before scoring the first of his three goals.

Reports indicate that both directors “they showed aggressive behavior and tried to enter the referees’ locker room” at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“When the referee asked them to leave, they blocked the door and the president intentionally hit the flag of one of the attendees, until it broke”reads the report by Dutch referee Danny Makkelie.

From PSG this version is rejected and it is ensured that Leonardo and Al-Khelaifi they just wanted to talk to the referee and insisted when he was turned away.

The tone was raised when they realized that the scene was filmed using a cell phone.

The newspaper AS published that after the incident “PSG sent a club employee to apologize to the referees and to Real Madrid”.
