Signs of life in the derby: FC Juniors Oberösterreich celebrates their first win since August against Steyr

PASCHING. The FC Juniors OÖ can still win in the 2nd football league: Yesterday the tail light defeated the penultimate forward Steyr 3:1. It was the first win under coach Manuel Takacs – and also the first full success in 216 days: the Pasching team last won 5-2 against Dornbirn on August 7, 2021.

The hosts took the lead after 18 minutes: New witness Alexander Michlmayr scored from 18 meters to make it 1-0. Steyr’s start in the second half was extremely unfavorable: goal scorer Michlmayr broke through after 20 seconds, defense chief Alberto Prada came too late with his tackle. Referee Florian Jandl not only awarded penalties, but ruled out the Spaniard with yellow/red. Ibrahima Drame converted the penalty due.

The game seemed decided six minutes later: Marco Kadlec defeated Steyr goalkeeper Thomas Turner from long-range – 3-0 (51st). Outnumbered, coach Daniel Madlener’s team still managed to make it 1:3 (56th) with a volley from Julian Turi. Forward had chances to score, but it was the first defeat after seven unbeaten games.

Will overtime follow Tor?

Blau-Weiss Linz remained unbeaten in the spring: Yesterday’s 3-0 win at the Rapids second team was the second win in a row. Fabian Neumayr (50th) scored the lead at the beginning of the second half: The 23-year-old winter player scored his first professional goal for Linz after assisting Manuel Maranda. Michael Brandner extended the lead in the 58th minute with a long-range goal, while Anteo Fetahu made it 3-0 in added time (93′).

Yesterday, the Linz fans who traveled with us cheered about Captain Brandner’s third goal of the season – soon they will also be able to look forward to signing a new contract: the players and the club agree verbally.
