The day after his triumph in the downhill, the Upper Austrian also won the last World Cup Super-G of the winter in Courchevel on Thursday. Kriechmayr took third place in the Discipline World Cup to the detriment of Matthias Mayer from Carinthia (12./+1.89). Aleksander Aamodt Kilde had gotten the ball before that.
The Norwegian, who finished second in the overall World Cup, finished fourth (+0.88) shortly after his US girlfriend Mikaela Shiffrin secured the overall World Cup. Like the day before, the Swiss overall World Cup winner Marco Odermatt only had to give way to the twelve-time World Cup race winner Kriechmayr, but was 0.53 seconds behind. His compatriot Gino Caviezel finished third (+0.75). Mayer was the second best Austrian immediately ahead of Raphael Haaser (13th/+2.05), Daniel Danklmaier came in 16th (+2.17).
For 30-year-old Kriechmayr, Austria’s current athlete of the year, it was the third win of the season at the World Championships dress rehearsal, or his seventh overall in a World Cup Super-G. In the previous year, the double world champion had won the special classification.
