Benzema, , suffered the injury during the week. Benzema was injured in his second goal to make it 3-0 in the closing stages and then asked to be substituted.

Real Madrid: Who will replace Karim Benzema in Clasico vs Barcelona?

For Real, Benzema’s absence against in-form Barca is bad news: the 34-year-old is by far the Los Blancos’ most prolific player this season. In 34 competitive games, Benzema scored 32 goals and also provided 13 assists. It has not yet been decided whether Benzema will travel to the French national team in the forthcoming international break.

It is also still unclear who will replace the Frenchman in Real’s attack center on Sunday. The first candidates are ex-Frankfurter Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz. It is therefore quite possible that coach Carlo Ancelotti bets on a false nine and orders one of his well-known wingers into the lead.

Real goes into the duel with Barcelona as the sovereign leaders. The capitals are currently ten points ahead of their closest pursuer, FC Sevilla.
