Mark Fotheringham represented Felix Magath at Hertha. There was one question he didn’t like at all on the PK after the win against Hoffenheim.
Assistant coach Mark Fotheringham from Hertha BSC put a journalist in his place after the 3-0 win against TSG Hoffenheim after he had used a cliché from the 38-year-old’s Scottish homeland to answer a question.
Felix Magath’s assistant was asked if he had shown the team the cult film “Braveheart” to motivate them. “It’s no fun what you’re saying because of Braveheart,” said Fotheringham, visibly pissed off, adding: “I’m a serious young coach. I’ve learned a lot, I don’t know what you mean by Braveheart.”

He also amazed with an answer to the question about his playing style in Berlin’s first win in three months. “I don’t care” about the tactics, said the former SC Freiburg professional. “Did we play 4-1-4-1?” he replied to another questioner.
Fotheringham, who was on the sidelines against Hoffenheim due to Magath’s corona illness, has already convinced managing director Fredi Bobic of himself. “Everywhere I’ve heard about him, he’s been described as inspiring and authentic,” he said, admitting he had to research the Fotheringham name first.
Defender Niklas Stark praised: “The guy is amazing.” Fotheringham himself considers it a great honor to work under Magath. “I am very grateful for this opportunity as he is one of the most successful coaches in world football,” he said. And the Scot? “I’m just Mark. I’m just a simple guy.”
