Barcelona must continue to cut salary costs. A departure from Samuel Umtiti is supposed to help. This links his transfer to a condition.
Central defender Samuel Umtiti (27) is apparently on the verge of leaving FC Barcelona. Like the Spanish one Sport reported, both parties agree on a change, but the Frenchman makes certain demands.
Accordingly, Umtiti had given the consent for an exit via loan, but in return would like the guarantee of a change to a Champions League team or a club with title chances.
FC Barcelona: Allegedly three offers for Umtiti
Specifically, FC Barcelona have apparently received three offers, but they do not meet the requirements of the French player.
The club will work hard in the next few weeks to process the exit before the start of the new Primera Division season in order to save the salary costs.
Barcelona had already tried to give up the French last summer, but at the time this failed because of the player’s veto. Umtiti has now lost his former regular place in the Catalans to Clement Lenglet, and in the past season the 27-year-old only made 13 appearances in LaLiga.
Umtiti has been wearing the Barca shirt since 2016. His contract is dated until June 30, 2023.
