Full ranks are allowed again in the football stadiums. Certain restrictions may continue to be applied for a transitional period. We’ll tell you here which ones the fans would like best.
For the Bundesliga clubs, the end of the spectator restrictions is a reason to breathe a sigh of relief, they had suffered significant losses in recent years due to reduced ticket sales. But the lifting of the anti-corona measures in no way means the end of the pandemic – on the contrary, the incidences are higher than ever. So how is the safety of the fans to be guaranteed in a packed stadium?
In May 2021, as part of the European Football Benchmark, Sportfive asked over 2,000 people interested in football which Covid measures would make them feel safer in the football stadium.
Adherents find testing best
At that time, the largest proportion, 42 percent, spoke out in favor of restricting entry to people who tested negative. Distance in the ranks was the second most common answer at 39 percent; this point in particular will not be enforceable at full capacity.

The fans also wanted masks to be compulsory (38 percent) and regular disinfection (36 percent). About a third were in favor of only letting vaccinated people into the stadium, 21 percent were in favor of the data protection questionable registration of all stadium visitors.
Some are for extremely strict restrictions
Some hardliners were even of the opinion that neither eating and drinking (14 percent) nor shouting and chanting (12 percent) should be allowed in order to keep the risk of infection low.
Although it has been almost a year since the poll was completed, it does suggest that many football fans are worried about catching the coronavirus while supporting their favorite club. It remains to be seen whether the ranks will fill up again in the coming weeks or whether the fans are now increasingly staying away from the stadium due to the increased health risk.
