Jose Mourinho continues to upgrade at AS Roma. The Serie A club has now officially presented its second newcomer – a center forward.
Next summer transfer for Serie A club AS Roma: The club from the Eternal City has signed Eldor Shomurodov (26) from league rivals FC Genoa. The Romans officially announced this late Monday evening.
The central center forward from Uzbekistan signed a contract until 2026 and costs the Roma a transfer fee of 17.5 million euros, as the club announced. In addition, the 26-year-old’s contract also includes a few performance-related clauses, such as a percentage of Genoa’s profit sharing in the event of a resale.
“I will do everything I can to show that I deserve this chance and to prove what I can do at one of the biggest clubs in the world,” said the attacker of the transfer to the capital. “The speed with which this contract came about shows that I want to work with the coach and my new team-mates as soon as possible.”
AS Roma: Shomurodov scored nine goals last season
Shomurodov is a national player and played for Genoa FC for one season. He had previously moved from FK Rostov to Italy for around 7.5 million euros, and his working paper would have run until 2024 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Last season he made 31 Serie A games and was involved in nine goals for his team.
He is the next summer signing under new coach Jose Mourinho. Most recently, The Special One had already piloted compatriot Rui Patricio to Rome.
