Snowboard: Gasser triumphed at the World Cup conclusion in slopestyle

At the World Cup finals in Silvaplana (Switzerland), the two-time Big Air Olympic champion in the slopestyle competition kept the upper hand thanks to an almost perfect second run (95.4 points) over Canadian Laurie Blouin (90.2) and the overall freestyle World Cup winner Division winner Kokomo Murase (87.2) from Japan.

For big-air specialist Gasser, it was only her third World Cup victory in slopestyle in her first World Cup appearance since winning the Olympic gold in Beijing. In January 2017, the Carinthian triumphed at Kreischberg, in March 2021 in Aspen. In the overall slopestyle ranking, Gasser, who only completed two of the six competitions of the season (1 win, 1 x second), improved to sixth place. In the overall freestyle ranking she was only beaten by Murase. In the Nations Cup (parallel, cross, freestyle), Austria was ahead of Germany (3,251) and Switzerland (3,057) with 3,911 points.

“It was a fantastic end to a brilliant season,” said Gasser. In the second run, on the third and last kicker, she increased the difficulty of her trick again, performed a “Backside Double Cork 1080” spotlessly and was rewarded by the judges with a correspondingly higher number of points. “After the Olympic Games, so much pressure was released from me, so I was really relieved here. The fact that I’ve also managed to win slopestyle this season is particularly nice, because there’s always something small for the Jump on the top step was missing.”

In the men’s category, victory in the 2025 World Cup venue went to the Norwegian Marcus Kleveland ahead of his compatriot Mons Roisland and Valentino Guseli from Italy. After Clemens Millauer’s injury, there were no Austrians at the start. Tiarn Collins from New Zealand, who was seventh on Sunday, won the overall slopestyle world cup, while Roisland won the freestyle classification.
