“If I had had a chance back then, I would definitely have taken it,” says Resul Omerovic. Since 2020, the 28-year-old, who trained in youth football with series champions Red Bull Salzburg, among others, has been hunting for goals in the Landesliga West for Ostermiething.
With success: The attacker scored twice in the 3-0 win against Sattledt, scoring his 13th and 14th goals of the season. At the club from the Braunau district, he and his 31-year-old team-mate Elvis Ozegovic (11 goals) beat the opponents week after week in a one-two Despair. The impressive record of the two offensive players: More than half (25) of the total of 40 goals scored go to the goal account of the duo. Ozegovic could only be stopped against Sattledt by illness.
A sniff of professional air
Omerovic almost made it into the Bundesliga. “Unfortunately, from a sporting point of view, I was often in the wrong place at the wrong time,” says the striker, speaking of his station at SV Grödig under coach Peter Schöttel.
What his current coach Robert Berg will probably be happy about, who only has words of praise for his goalkeepers. “Both players are hugely important to our team in their own way. I can only count myself lucky as a coach.”
