After almost half a year in Parma, Joshua Zirkzee is awarded again by FC Bayern Munich. The striker joins Anderlecht.
FC Bayern Munich is lending storm talent Joshua Zirkzee to the top Belgian club RSC Anderlecht for the coming season. The German record champions officially announced this on Tuesday evening.
“For Joshua it is very important that he gets as much playing time as possible. RSC Anderlecht offers him this opportunity,” said Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. “Joshua can now take the next important step in his professional career in an interesting league and I think he can have a good season.”
Joshua Zirkzee: No purchase option for Anderlecht
Anderlecht will not have a purchase option after the loan expires in summer 2022, Bayern confirmed. In Munich, Zirkzee is under contract until 2023.
The 20-year-old Dutchman switched from Feyenoord Rotterdam to FCB’s offspring in 2017. Zirkzee made his Bundesliga debut for Bayern in December 2019 when he scored a goal in the 3-1 win in Freiburg. Also in his second outing against Wolfsburg a few days later, he scored shortly after being substituted on.
In total, Zirkzee has scored four goals in 17 appearances for Bayern’s first team. After barely getting a chance in the first half of last season, the Dutch junior international was loaned to Parma Calcio from February to the end of June this year. Due to injury, however, he was only able to play four Serie A games for the Italians.
