A hot atmosphere in a positive sense despite the onset of winter – a football festival had promised to warm up. But it got much too heated in the Paschinger Raiffeisen Arena. When Ried’s Marcel Ziegl celebrated his goal to make it 2-0 (19th) in front of the LASK fan sector and the east stand, it was raining cups, Stefan Nutz was hit by one fired from the east stand. Referee Christian-Petru Ciochirca interrupted the game – it only continued after six minutes. The Rieder defended the lead until the final whistle.
After just 59 seconds, Ried’s goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger distinguished himself when Sascha Horvath shot. Ried took the lead in the fourth minute without shooting at goal.
Letard: own goal and red in twelve minutes
Nene crossed from the left in front of the penalty area, LASK defender Yannis Letard went for the header, which at best was intended as a return to goalkeeper Alexander Schlager. The LASK captain was not within reach, the ball jumped into the goal from the bar – 0:1.
LASK trainer Andreas Wieland had set up starting eleven debutant Oumar Sako and Letard in central defense due to the absence of defense chief Philipp Wiesinger – and neither of them could keep up with the fast Rieder attackers. LASK was played out with the simple means of passing through the defense. Mikic ran away from both central defenders and failed at Schlager (6th), at the last moment Sako prevented Mikic from finishing (8th).
Sako missed the chance to equalize with a header (12th), in the same minute lost the ball in the center circle – and LASK ran into the counterattack. Letard brought Nene down in the penalty area, Ciochirca decided on a penalty and showed the Frenchman red (12′).
Schlager parried two Wießmeier penalties
Julian Wießmeier came on after a VAR check, Schlager parried the shot into the left corner (14th). Because Marvin Potzmann, who cleared the rebound, ran into the penalty area too early, the video referee gave Wießmeier a second chance. This time Schlager parried the shot into the right corner (16′).
LASK was lucky when Tin Platovic headed the ball (17th), Marcel Ziegl aimed better: after a free kick cross he won the header duel against Sako – 2:0 (19th). He celebrated the hit in front of the LASK fans sector, who completely idiotically wanted to cool down the Rieder cheers with beer showers. Ried director Stefan Nutz was hit by a mug. Ciochirca reacted consistently: he interrupted the game. Meanwhile, it was getting hot in the Rieder sector because of the countless Bengal fires.
Ziegl retired injured
After the forced break, at least football continued – albeit with bad ones from the athletes, who, completely unsettled, hardly ever got any passes. During the break, Wieland saved Sako with a triple change, Petar Filipovic made his comeback four months after his hip operation.
Despite being outnumbered, Ried left control to LASK – it was playing with fire. Substitute Peter Michorl shot just wide (56′), Sahin-Radlinger lost the ball to Alexander Schmidt while dribbling in his own penalty area, but corrected the faux pas himself (58′).
The LASK ran, Ried brought victory over time without any major problems over time even without a stabilizer Ziegl: The already ailing captain injured himself in a step in a duel and had to be carried off the field.
One legionnaire too many at LASK
The LASK lost the derby, the lead in the qualification group – and money, not only because of the penalties to be expected due to the cup throw: With Yannis Letard, Oumar Sako, James Holland, Branko Jovicic and Keito Nakamura there were five legionnaires in the starting eleven, and there were also sat Petar Filipovic and Jan Boller on the bench. There were a total of seven – and thus one too many to be allowed to grab the Austrian pot in the third accounting period. The athletes voluntarily waive a little more than 100,000 euros.
