South American Cup: Lanús brought a draw from Venezuela

In the other group match, Barcelonafrom Ecuador, directed by the Argentine Jorge Celico and with a goal from his compatriot the midfielder Damian Diazprevailed with breadth against wanderers, of Uruguay, by 4 to 2, in the city of Guayaquil.

The meeting in the Venezuelan field showed a first stage with intense and balanced actions within a discreet development, in which the local had the clearest situations within the little that both sides generated in attack.

Two were the most dangerous chances for Metropolitans, both very well covered by goalkeeper Fernando Monetti. First against a tackle from Carlos Sosa (25 min) and then against a shot from outside the area by Robinson Flores.

Lanús sought to unbalance down the left wing with combinations of Alexandro Bernabei and Ignacio Malcorra, but they did not find the precise resolution in the definition. Only the left side in a personal maneuver required the intervention of the local goalkeeper Giancarlo Schiavonenear the end.

At the same time, ‘Grana’ offered some neglect in defense, especially on the right side in which Leonel Di Placido suffered the constant 2-1 that Néstor Cova and Flores proposed.

With the proceeds of Brian Aguirre for Di Placido -reprimanded- and Jonathan Cabral by Diego Braghieri -injured-, the technical director Jorge Almirón tried to better order the rearguard of the Argentine team in the complement.

While he found greater prominence in the game with the judicious deployment of Tomás Belmonte, in the middle zone, and because of the impetus he gave to his attack led by Malcorra and with greater participation by José Sand in the local area.

Precisely, with a tackle from the left by Malcorra, which he defined with a cross shot that Schiavone was able to control (24 min), Lanús recounted a clear situation to take the lead.

Another one was wasted by José López when he received a cross from Lautaro Acosta and very close to the rival’s goal he hit the ball from very low, elevating it over the crossbar (40 min).

The Venezuelan team faded in the second period and practically did not worry the defense of Lanús anymore, but the Buenos Aires team continues without finding a good performance as it happens in the Cup of the Professional Soccer League.
