Cristiano Ronaldo and his wife lose their son at birth. Liverpool FC fans want to offer their condolences during today’s game.

Liverpool fans are reportedly planning an action to express their condolences for Cristiano Ronaldo for Tuesday night’s Premier League game against Manchester United. The Red Devils superstar announced on Monday that he and his wife Georgina Rodriguez lost their son at birth.

There have been numerous requests from Liverpool fans on Twitter to applaud in the seventh minute of the game. As a reminder, the number seven is part of the Portuguese’s ‘CR7’ trademark, as he wore that shirt number throughout his career. Given the historic rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United, it would be a strong sign of Reds support.

“Life is much more important than a football rivalry,” it said in a tweet. Another user asked to spread the fans’ concerns via Twitter before the game, because: “Tragedy knows no colors.”

Ronaldo does not play against Liverpool

Ronaldo will not play for United on Tuesday night in light of the tragedy. “It’s the greatest pain a parent can feel. Only the birth of our daughter gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” and also asked to respect his privacy. His partner Georgina was pregnant with twins. The daughter was born healthy.

There have already been numerous expressions of condolence under his Instagram post. Sporting from Lisbon, where Ronaldo started his career, has already said: “Strengthen, Cristiano. Your Sporting family is with you.” His current club Manchester United also wrote: “Your pain is our pain. We send you love and strength for you and your family at this time.”
