Bayreuth clearly won the top game against Bayern II on Monday 4-0. However, the subsequent team evening was overshadowed by a beating attack.
At a team evening, three players were attacked by SpVgg Bayreuth. The team celebrated the 4-0 victory in the Bavarian Regionalliga against FC Bayern II on Easter Monday. One player is still in the hospital.
With the victory, Bayreuth can hardly be denied promotion, the lead over Bayern is now eleven points – albeit with a game more. The team therefore decided to celebrate the victory extensively in the evening. However, the festival was overshadowed by the attack.
“Three of our players were beaten up in the worst possible way on the sidelines of a team evening in the city center by several people, currently four are assumed,” the club said.
Two players were admitted to the intensive care unit, one is still in the hospital for observation due to a “severe head injury”. The perpetrators had previously accosted other guests. The attack has since been reported and the Bayreuth police are investigating.
