Gymnastics won fairly and still dreams of qualifying

Néstor Gorosito’s team won a very hard-fought game and achieved the fourth win in their last five appearances. Union after the defeat should only point to the Copa Sudamericana.

Gimnasia and Unión starred in a disputed and even first half, with few ideas and with the VAR as the main protagonist, so much so that 7 minutes were added.

From the outset, a hand by Emanuel Britez was analyzed, then an advance position and at 38m Johan Carbonero in a counter turned into a one-on-one with Santiago Mele and the technology marked an improper millimetric position, so much so that the assistant Juan Millenar never raised the pennant.

Gymnastics had the clearest. Mele covered two good attacks against Brahian Aleman one and against Eric Ramirez the other. Britez also saved a shot from Leonardo Morales on the line.

Union had two chances. The first at 2 minutes in a strong shot by Diego Polenta that Rodrigo Rey covered and towards the end a header by Franco Calderón that went wide.

At the beginning of the second half, the cast of Gorosito found the goal in a good assist from Carbonero that Sosa defined over Mele to make it 1-0.

Ramírez was able to increase in a counterattack but he took time to define and wasted a clear situation. And in the corner Oscar Piris headed wide.

The tatengue team had an approach in a shot by Luna Diale that went near the right post of Rey.

Munúa’s men lacked ideas to seek equality and only approached the area with crosses.

The “Wolf” had the last in a shot by Cristian Tarragona that Mele took to the corner.
