After the 1-0 win over FAC, the lead over the penultimate Dornbirn four rounds before the end of the season is already nine points. Planning for another season in the second division has long since begun. There is no further collaboration with Michael Martin: he has been released from training.
The German was about to sign a new contract, but he didn’t stick to his promises. “He and his new agent are dreaming of Germany. We don’t take part in these games,” explained sporting director Jürgen Tröscher. Luca Mayr-Fälten slipped into the starting XI for Martin – and used his chance against FAC with the winning goal. Tröscher: “When he came back from America in the winter, he wasn’t physically ready. Now he’s getting better and better.” There is an option for the 26-year-old – but Steyr wants to negotiate a new contract.
