With Christian Mayrleb and Marco Mittermayr, two coaches have already tried their luck this season at the Upper Austrian league club Donau Linz – now all good things come in threes: As reported, goalkeeper legend Klaus Lindenberger, sports director Kurt Baumgartner and ex-captain Christoph Oberegger still manage the miracle relegation. At their debut in the derby against Edelweiss, the 2-1 defeat put a damper on the tail light. Now it’s against Oedt next week.
After just six games, David Schimpl’s era as coach of St. Florian is over: After Wolfgang Gruber’s resignation in March, his 39-year-old assistant slipped into the role of head coach – losing 4-1 to St. Valentin for the fourth time . Curious: Gruber, of all people, is now returning and will take care of the club on an interim basis until the summer. Sports director Mario Bramberger, who would have left St. Florian in the summer anyway, has to go now. Franz Kiss becomes the new section head.
Renner-Aus not an issue
It is also becoming increasingly difficult for the penultimate Bad Schallerbach. Coach Erich Renner is not up for discussion. “Freiburg was also relegated with Christian Streich, but continued with him anyway and now he’s idolized,” says sporting director Harald Ruckendorfer. Nevertheless, not only the coach, but above all the players have a duty: “We all made mistakes, I hold the players primarily responsible.”
