Liverpool FC: Anfield Road is apparently not suitable as a stadium for the European Championship

There would be a fairly high hurdle for EM games at Anfield Road. So will the legendary stadium go empty-handed in an English co-host in 2028?

The home ground of the , Anfield Road, appears unsuitable to host a game at 2028, which is likely to be held in the UK and Ireland. For a curious reason, like the English tabloid Sun reported.

According to UEFA, a playing field must have fixed dimensions of 105 meters in length and 68 meters in width for major tournaments. In the legendary arena in Liverpool, however, the length is only 101 meters. Due to the proximity to the grandstands behind the respective goals, this cannot be extended by the required four meters.

EM 2028: Ten stadiums are to be located in England

The new home of city rivals FC Everton might be an option. Construction of the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, costing around 500 million euros, started in 2021. There is no official date for completion yet.

England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland want to apply together for the European Championship. Ten of the 16 stadiums to be selected as part of the bid are in the homeland of football. and Turkey have also applied to host the EM 2028.
