This was announced by the Bundesliga on Wednesday evening.
The second division club Wacker Innsbruck, on the other hand, was also refused permission to play by the protest committee for financial reasons.
Within the next eight days, the Tyroleans still have to go to the Permanent Neutral Arbitration Court, which will decide in the third and final instance by the end of May. No more documents may be submitted later.
While the situation in Innsbruck is bleak, there was great joy in the Vienna distribution group. “Thanks to the excellent performance of our entire team, we were able to answer all of the Bundesliga’s questions. We are pleased that the protest committee was able to follow our arguments and honored them with the granting of the license,” said Austria board member Gerhard Krisch in a statement Club broadcast quoted.
Krisch thanked all fans, partners, employees and committees and promised: “We will continue to dedicate ourselves to our goals with high pressure and consistently continue on our chosen path.” According to the Austria announcement, the Bundesliga decision on a four-point deduction for the 2022/23 season and a fine of 20,000 euros was sent to the club together with the license granted. “We will now prepare the protest against it and submit it in good time,” announced the “Violets”. The league imposed the sanction because of the delay in publishing the audited annual financial statements.
The relief was also great at the SKN St. Pölten. “The fact that there are no further complaints from the protest committee and therefore no conditions for the coming year shows that we as a club are now on the right track,” explained business manager Matthias Gebauer in a broadcast from the Lower Austrians. According to the SKN, the protest committee accepted all documents submitted later that underpinned the club’s liquidity for the coming season and gave the club a positive certificate.
Wacker Innsbruck, on the other hand, is about to leave professional football. President Kevin Radi said in a statement on the recently denied gaming license: “We are currently examining all options and possible solutions in order to appeal against the judgment within the next eight days. If we are able to work out solutions, we will of course try to submit them to the arbitral tribunal and to obtain approval for the second division. At the same time, landmark decisions are being made so that the club, if the worst comes to the worst, would have a future in the regional league next year. We will not give up and will do everything we can to the last day to ensure the continued existence of FC Wacker Innsbruck.”
After the players in the Wacker professional department had set a grace period for outstanding salary payments and the club had not made the payments by midnight on Tuesday, the Tyroleans were informed by Clemens Hubmann, Raphael Gallé, Fabio Markelic and Darijo Grujcic about the early termination of employment. All four players will no longer be available to Wacker with immediate effect and can switch for free.
