There was even singing on the way home: the 3000 SV Ried fans didn’t let the mood spoil despite the cup defeat. “We’re still proud,” said a group of young men just before boarding one of the buses heading to the Innviertel. Applause from other fans was not long in coming.
If they happened to bump into each other during breaks in the parking lot on the way home, the pride in their team was immediately felt again as slogans were sung together. Not a trace of tiredness even in the late hours of Sunday evening. “We’ll get the cup next year,” Christian from Ried was certain.

Not only the fans were proud of their team, but also the team of their fans: “Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the cup title, but we have the best fans in the world,” wrote SV Ried athletic trainer Andreas Berktold on Facebook . Head coach Christian Heinle: “The performance of our fans was amazing.”
Relegation battle instead of cup final
After the last intensive days, the team has no training yesterday and today, also to clear their heads for the important tasks to come. From now on it’s time again: relegation battle instead of cup finals. On Saturday in Altach (5 p.m.) there will be a duel with the bottom team from Vorarlberg.
The lead of the SVR over Altach is four points. With a win, the Rieder would secure the league two laps before the end. In the event of a defeat, the situation for Rieder in the basement of the table would deteriorate drastically. “We’re going to Altach and want to win there, which will certainly be difficult enough,” says coach Heinle.
