A semi-final of the 2024 European Football Championship will take place in Dortmund. As the association Uefa announced, the Signal Iduna Park will be the scene of a semi-final, as it was at the 2006 World Cup.
Soccer fans in North Rhine-Westphalia can look forward to a semi-final at the 2024 European Championship. One of the two semi-finals will be held in Dortmund’s Signal-Iduna-Park in two years’ time. This was announced by the European Football Union UEFA on Tuesday in Vienna.
The other semi-final at the EURO finals in Germany will be played in Munich, where the opening match is also scheduled to take place on June 14, 2024. As the venue for the final, UEFA chose the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, where the 2006 World Cup final also took place.
European Championship 2024: Semifinals in Dortmund
Of the four World Cup locations in NRW, Düsseldorf in particular can be happy. The state capital was the only EM location in the most populous federal state to be awarded a quarterfinal – along with Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart. In Cologne and Gelsenkirchen there are round of 16 games.
Dortmund and Cologne were awarded four preliminary round games, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen only three.
The final draw is to take place in December 2023 in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the international media center will be in Leipzig. As hosts, the German national team has already qualified for the finals, with the draw being drawn next October in Frankfurt.
