“The truth is that it is something very beautiful for me, seeing myself 10 years ago is very exciting”said Omenwho scored a club record 260 goals before joining Barcelona and retiring last year aged 33 due to a heart condition.
“In those 10 years I was able to win many trophies and I was able to help the club to become one of the most important in the world (…) it is something very special”.
The former Argentine international won five league titles, one FA Cup and six League Cups during a 10-year spell at the City.
The statue, created by the sculptor Andy Scottjoins those of Vincent Company Y David Silvaformer teammates of Omenwhich opened at the Etihad last year.
“Sergio Agüero’s contribution to Manchester City at a decisive time for the club cannot be overstated”added the president of the City, Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
“When our fans think of Sergio, they are immediately drawn to the iconic moment at 93:20 (…) it is only right that Sergio has been recognized with a statue of his own.”
