Does a disappointing season end for LASK on Friday – or will the athletes force an extension in the home game against Admira (7 p.m.), which can still bring a happy ending in the European Cup play-off? The starting position is clear: LASK can only make it into the semi-finals on Monday against Tirol in Innsbruck on its own if it wins.
That’s where the favorite opponent comes in handy: LASK won ten of the eleven most recent duels with Admira – only the first leg in the qualifying group ended 1-1 in Südstadt. Coach Dietmar Kühbauer is available again after being suspended against his former club Marvin Potzmann and James Holland. The Burgenlander calls for “two good halves”. In his first two games as LASK trainer against Hartberg (3:3) and against Ried (1:1) “we had a slump in the first half. But the good thing is that we know very well that we can do it .”
In the case of Admira, this conviction finally waned. After four games without a win, the Lower Austrians have their backs to the wall: Only a win definitely ensures relegation. As an exception, they will keep their fingers crossed for their local rivals at SV Guntamatic Ried: If LASK wins, the Innviertler are saved – regardless of the result in Hartberg.
